Joseph G. Kondek, 81, of Middletown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Meridian Health Care Center in Shrewsbury, New Jersey. Joseph was born on January 1, 1936 in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he was raised. As a young adult, Joseph moved with his family to Union Beach, New Jersey. On October 24, 1965, he and his wife, Arlene, were married and began their life together in Sayreville, New Jersey. A few years later, they moved to Brick Town, New Jersey, where they began raising their family. After 10 years in Brick Town, they relocated to Matawan, New Jersey, and in 1996, Joseph and Arlene settled in Middletown, New Jersey.
Before his retirement, Joseph worked for various companies throughout his life utilizing his skills as a HVAC Mechanic. He was also a proud United States Army Veteran. Joseph's favorite way to spend his free time was at the bowling alley. He absolutely loved bowling, which was a hobby of his for the last 60 years. He was a member of many different bowling leagues over the years in the Bayshore Area. Joseph was also a devout parishioner of St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church in Holmdel, New Jersey, where he and his family have been members of the church since 1980.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph F. and Mary (Molnar) Kondek, and his beloved wife, Arlene E. (Toth) Kondek. Joseph is survived by his loving children, Joseph S. Kondek of Middletown, New Jersey, and Karen I. Kondek of Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, his dear brother, Edward Kondek and his wife, Jeanette, of Middletown, New Jersey, his cherished nieces, Jillian Derocckis and Marisa Bryer, along with five great nieces, extended family members, and friends. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Friday morning, February 10, 2017 from 9:15 to 10:00 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday morning, February 10, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, 456 State Highway/Route 35 South, Middletown, New Jersey 07701.
