Billy , Ed and Family, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. My father Al often spoke of him. I was not aware of his passing until I spoke with Danny Ray on Friday night. It is Sad to see another one of our Greatest Generation leave us, may he rest in peace.

I knew John to be a kind man and a funny man who loved his family deeply. I also know that he fought in one of the biggest battles in the greatest war our world has ever known so that my country and the rest of the world would not have to live under fascist rule. For that I am forever grateful.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Gutch and my life was enriched by the experience. He was truly a part of that "greatest generation" historians often talk about. I'm proud to say that I'm an "Honorary" Gutch. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Al Larson
