Robert Michael Bednar Jr.

Robert Michael Bednar Jr, 62, of Matawan, passed away peacefully at Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel on April 19, 2023. Robert was born in Abington Township, Pennsylvania to parents Robert Sr. and Jill (Morey) Bednar on June 9th, 1960. Robert spent most of his childhood in East Windsor, New Jersey, and graduated from Hightstown High School in 1978. He made a career in coaching tennis for over 40 years, most notably for the Jersey 34 Tennis Club in Matawan, NJ, the Fox Chase Tennis Club in Chester, NJ, and the Little Silver Tennis Club, in Little Silver, NJ. Robert lived a life full of beautiful experiences and led every day he lived with love. He enjoyed spending his time at the tennis court, the beach, at dinners with his loving girlfriend Karen, and going out for pizza and a movie with his son, Robert Bednar III. Robert will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.

Robert is predeceased by his parents, Robert M. Bednar Sr., and Jill (Morey) Bednar, and his nephew Nick Kirby. He is survived by his son Robert Michael Bednar III, his siblings Susan B. Kirby and Jamie Bednar, his niece Rachel Reed, his nephew John Kirby, his partner Karen Messana and her three sons Patrick, Ryan, and Peter, and his ex-wife Mirella Toto Bednar.

Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc. located at 3269 Highway 35 North, Hazlet, NJ, 07730. In respect to Robert’s wishes, his cremation will remain private. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a date, time, and location to be determined.
