Raymond Kilroy Obituary

Raymond Francis Kilroy, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family on April 26, 2023. He was born on March 13, 1960, to Raymond and Christina (Caruso) Kilroy in Jersey City, NJ.

In 1963, he moved to Keyport, NJ where he would grow up, go to school, and meet the love of his life, Eileen Dubey, at Keyport High School. Their first date was at his senior prom, and they dated for 3 years before getting engaged at her senior prom. On May 12th, 1984, they married. In July of 1984, Ray started working for New Jersey Transit in the bus garage. Soon after he transferred into the police division where he was the vehicle coordinator where he helped outfit all the police vehicles. He then transferred to Light Rail Fare Enforcement where he would serve out the rest of his career. In 1989, they bought their house in Keyport. In 1993, they welcomed their first born, Erin and in 1996 their second, Anthony. At the age of 18, Ray joined Raritan Hose Company of the Keyport Fire Department where he would climb through the ranks and eventually become Chief of Department in 2011, a title he considered a huge accomplishment. When they became of age, both of his children would follow in his footsteps and join the fire department and he was extremely proud of them both.

Ray is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Christina Kilroy, his brother Michael Kilroy, and his sister Christine Kilroy. He is survived by his loving wife Eileen (Dubey) Kilroy of 39 years, his brother and sister-in-law Jerry and April Kilroy, his daughter and son-in-law Erin and Darven Stewart-Romulus, his granddaughter Amara (Peanut), his son Anthony Kilroy and many nieces and nephews. While serving with the Keyport Fire Department, he was also the department chaplain, and the Chaplin for the Bayshore Active Fire Chiefs, another title he was extremely proud of. He did many services for local departments, from building and apparatus dedications to funeral services. Ray was also a member of the Jesus the Lord Knights of Columbus Council. He touched so many peoples lives for the better and will be missed by all.
