Phyllis Reid, 103, of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. Phyllis was born on January 20, 1921, in Montrose, Scotland, where she spent the earlier part of her childhood. At seven years old, Phyllis and her two brothers immigrated to the United States and started their life on 49th Street in Brooklyn, New York. Phyllis also lived in Staten Island, New York, and Lakewood, New Jersey, before settling in Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls about 16 years ago. Before her retirement, Phyllis worked in claim management for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for many years. She was also a United States Navy veteran, having proudly served our country during World Wari II. Most of all, Phyllis was a loving sister, aunt, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents, Annabelle and Albert Reid, her dear siblings, Albert Reid and his wife, Anna, Stanley Reid and his wife, Agnes, and Douglas Reid, as well as three nephews and one niece. Phyllis is survived by her dear sister-in-law, Dorothy Reid, eight loving nieces and nephews, thirteen cherished great nieces and nephews, thirteen adoring great-great nieces and nephews, and one treasured great-great-great nephew.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday morning, February 23, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:15 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Thursday evening during visitation hours. Interment will take place at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Brigadier General William C.
