Michael Gregory Shaw

Michael Gregory Shaw, 72, of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and his favorite music on Saturday, October 30, 2021.  Michael was born on May 20, 1949 in Orange, New Jersey and grew up in Laurence Harbor.  On July 27, 1975, Michael and his wife, Kathaleen, were married and began their life together.  Shortly after in 1977, they settled in Keyport, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their family.  Before retirement, Michael was a teacher for Old Bridge Township Board of Education for 43 years.  Michael was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather, and will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Michael’s love for music was constant. Growing up he shared a room with his sister, who introduced him to rock and roll. He was a member of several bands, including The Strangers, Fergunson Road and Teech. In the 90’s he founded Drop the Needle DJs with Joanne Bachonski. Music was a driving force in Michael's life and it came naturally. In his pursuit to pursue his passion of music, he inspired others along the way to follow their passions. Michael always enjoyed the simple things in life, was always ready for a good time, and a strong beer. He was unapologetically himself. 
He was predeceased by his parents, Alan and Lucille (Wagner) Shaw, and his dear sister, Beverly Zubowicz and his brother-in-law Louie Zubowicz.  Michael is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 46 years, Kathaleen (Rogers) Shaw, his loving daughter, Meghan Shaw and her wife, Melissa McNair, his cherished grandson, Michael Jerry McNair and his loving nephew Gregg Zubowicz.
In respect of Michael's wishes, he will be privately cremated.  Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered during visitation hours.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
