Mauro Mele

Mauro Mele, 89, passed away peacefully at Bayside Manor  Nursing Home on Saturday, April 5, 2025. He was born on May 8, 1935 in Molfetta, Italy.  He was the youngest of five children. He moved to the United States in the 1950s and resided in Hoboken, New Jersey with his wife Caterina Mele. He was a carpenter at  the Union City Mirror and Table Company in Union City, New Jersey.  Mauro was also the president and one of the cofounders of the Juventus soccer club in Hoboken, New Jersey which was a big part of his life and where he made many friends and cherished memories. 

He was predeceased by his parents Gaetano and Isabella (Scardigno) Mele, his wife Caterina Mele and his brothers and sisters. Mauro is survived by his sister-in-law, Angela DeGennaro and several nieces and nephews in both Italy and the United States. He cherished his time with his great nieces, Julia, Gianna, Isabella and Christina.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered during the visitation. Entombment will follow in Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.
