Leonard Brugnola, 67, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at his home. Leonard was born on October 10, 1957, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He met the love of his life, Joyce Lucignano and they later married on April 14, 1978. Leonard and Joyce settled in Hazlet, New Jersey in 1984 where they remained to raise their family. Leonard retired from Norfolk Southern Railway (formerly Conrail) where he was dedicated to working as a railroad foreman. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle.
He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Rita (Sicola) Brugnola, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nicholas and Mary Lucignano, his sisters-in-law Rosemarie Reimer and Dolores Cascetta, and his brothers-in-law Donald Reimer, Robert Besser, Anthony DiAmbrosio, and John Cascetta. He is survived by his caring father, Chris Brugnola, his loving wife of 46 years, Joyce Lucignano Brugnola, his cherished children, Melissa Lynn Brugnola of Jackson, New Jersey, Dana Marie Brugnola of Hazlet, New Jersey, Christopher Leonard Brugnola and his wife Erin Brugnola of Baltimore, Maryland, his dear sister Joanmarie Capodanno and her husband Cappy, his cherished grandson Nicholas Zaffarese, his sisters-in-law Josie Besser and Johanna DiAmbrosio, and many nieces and nephews.
Lenny’s priority was always his family. He loved when everyone was together for the holidays and parties, especially his backyard barbecues with his famous, slow-cooked spare ribs. He was an outstanding cook and an avid fisherman, where he was best known as “Uncle Luna.” Another of his favorite past-times was watching his New York Yankees and Giants, win or lose. Simply put, everyone loved Lenny.
