Joan Marie (Haas) Burke

Joan Marie (nee Haas) Burke, 84, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully  surrounded by her loving family on July 12, 2023, at Care One at King James, Middletown, New Jersey.  She was born Joan Marie Haas on August 6, 1938, in Bronx, New York. Joan moved from New York to North Middletown, New Jersey area in 1959.  Upon Joan’s retirement she moved to Hazlet, New Jersey where she remained. She enjoyed her work as a counselor for the ARC of Monmouth where she worked for many years until her retirement.  Joan was a member of the Senior Center in Keyport and the Hazlet Pool Club. She loved spending time both cooking and crocheting. Joan was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Edward and Rita (Hickey) Haas, a son John E. Burke and a grandson, Max Wojcik. She is survived by her loving daughters, Rita Haft and her husband Tom of Wisconsin, Elizabeth Thomson and her husband Ken of Hazlet, Theresa Brookes and her husband Ted of Middletown and Nancy Wojcik and her husband Walter of Hazlet, her caring sister, Edna Garrison of Florida, her cherished grandchildren, Stefanie Thomson, Lauren Thomson, Allen Weeks, Amanda Burke, Patrick Arminas, Meghan Arminas, Teddy Brookes, Tyler Brookes, Michael Wojcik, and Craig Wojcik adoring great grandchildren, Gavin Burke, Sonia Wojcik and Calisi Wojcik , nephew John Garrison and a niece LeeAnn Krisciunas

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 9:30 to 1:30 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Funeral Service will be held during the visitation.  Interment will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, NJ-35 Hazlet, New Jersey   07730.
