James Harris Obituary

James G. Harris, 62, of Aberdeen, New Jersey, fondly known as “Jim” to his family and friends, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.  James was born on April 16, 1960, in County Kerry, Ireland to his beloved parents, Patrick Joseph and Bridie (O’Sullivan) Harris.  Jim grew up in Ballyrobert, Ardfert, Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1984, settling in Woodside, New York.  In 1988, Jim met his beloved wife, Regina, and they began their courtship.  On September 13, 1992, they were married and began their life together in Middle Village, New York and in December 2003, they settled in Aberdeen, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their family.

Throughout his life, Jim spent his career as a mason and layout foreman, with much of his handy work gracing many of the buildings in the New York City Skyline.  In his spare time, Jim enjoyed painting portraits and landscape scenes, including his childhood home in Ireland, and exercising by running long distance, most recently with the Matawan Aberdeen Track Club.  He also enjoyed hurling, soccer, and boxing, three sports he competed in during his younger years.  Most of all, Jim was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.  He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

He was predeceased by his parents, Patrick Joseph and Bridie (O’Sullivan) Harris, and his sister, Julie Roche.  Jim is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 29 years, Regina Dahir-Harris, his loving sons, Michael Harris of Hamilton, New Jersey, and Gabriel Harris of Aberdeen, New Jersey, his dear siblings, Anne Egan, TJ Harris, Joe Harris, and Paul Harris, and his treasured brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kamely Hayes and her husband, Mark, Stanley Dahir and his wife, Effie, and Matthew Dahir and his wife, Lisa, along with many cherished nieces and nephews, and cousins, both in the United States and Ireland.
