Christine D. St. John, 93, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida. She was born Christine Megaro on September 16, 1927 in Newark, New Jersey, where she grew up. On October 5,1952, Christine and her beloved husband, Norman, were married and began their lives together. In 1953, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey to raise their family. Before her retirement in 1991, Christine worked for Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company for many years. Previously, she worked as a secretary for Ronson Lighters. Christine was also a member of the Middletown Elks Ladies Auxiliary. She was a very active member of her community throughout her life and was always involved in various community committees. She lived and loved life to the fullest. Her nickname was the energizer bunny. She also loved playing the slots in Atlantic City. Most of all, Christine was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Louise (Palmieri) Megaro, her beloved and devoted husband, Norman St. John, her dear siblings, Herman, Daniel, Carmen, and Gerard Megaro, Angelina Tomasiello, and Olga Zottoli, and her son-in-law, David Brown. Christine is survived by her loving daughters, Claudia Sitar and her husband, Leonard, Deborah St. John, and Colleen Lentini and her husband, Joseph, and her cherished granddaughter, Nicole Lentini.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and Monday morning, February 15, 2021 from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, February 15, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07730. Christine's Mass at St. Benedict Church will be available to watch via live stream from their website. To take part in the mass from your home, please visit, https://parish.stbenedictholmdel.org/. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733. As per the regulations imposed through the State of New Jersey, there will now be a maximum of 100 persons allowed in the funeral home at one time.
