Brian McNeil, 55, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Brian was born on June 16, 1966, in Red Bank, New Jersey, and grew up in Hazlet, New Jersey, where he has lived for most of his life. From 1991 to 1994, Brian spent a few years living in Hawaii, where he met his beloved wife, Ulrike. Brian and Ulrike were married on October 11, 1993 and began their life together. In 1994, they returned to Hazlet, where they remained to raise their family.
Brian worked as a union ironworker for Local #45 for 36 years, dealing mostly with structural projects. In 2001, he also became the owner of Mid-State Steel Erectors Inc. In addition, he later worked for Shamrock Construction as a foreman until 2021. In his spare time, Brian enjoyed fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle, and traveling to Hawaii, and was one of the Grateful Dead’s biggest fans. Brian was very handy and never hesitated to help a friend with a project. He also adored his dogs, Daisy and Delilah, especially Delilah with whom he had a special connection. Most of all, Brian was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mildred (Smith) McNeil, and his dear sister, Sharon McNeil-Turrell. Brian is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 28 years, Ulrike Maria McNeil, his loving daughters, Sarah Jacobs and her husband, David, and Alison McNeil and her partner, Jon, his dear siblings, Edward McNeil and his wife, Annette, Michael McNeil and his wife, Pamela, Patrick McNeil and his partner, Christine, and Carol Sharpe and her husband, Joseph, and his brother-in-law, Eric Turrell, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday evening, April 1, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday morning, April 2, 2022, from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, April 2, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.
