Maria (Raimond) Hinners, 57, of Hazlet, New Jersey passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024 at Riverview Hospital, surrounded by loving family. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where she lived until moving to Monmouth County in 1997 and eventually settling in Hazlet in 1999.
Maria was happiest when caring for others, as evidenced by her volunteer efforts and employment, beginning in her teenage years. She volunteered in a daycare center for disabled children and later worked at another daycare center followed by a local doctor’s office. She later worked in Brookyn Heights in real estate for over a decade, where she met her husband R.J. in 1993. After taking a break from work to raise their son, Christopher, she returned to volunteer and later work at St. Joseph School (Keyport) and St. Leo the Great School (Lincroft), before retiring in 2021 due to illness.
Maria will be remembered for her warm eyes and smile, her ever-changing hair colors and her biting Brooklyn wit. She loved caring for others, especially by ensuring they were well fed. She was renowned for her cooking and baking, especially her cheesecake, tiramisu and infamous rainbow cookies, which she prepared in huge batches each Christmas season. She enjoyed travel but was just as happy to curl up at home with a good book or a cheesy movie.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Dolores (Marzick) Raimond and her sister Linda Carrus. She is survived by her sisters Elizabeth Crapanzano and her husband, Peter, Donna Falci and her husband, Vincent, her brother John Raimond, her beloved and devoted husband Richard (“R.J.”), her loving son and the center of her world, Christopher, and her many beloved nieces and nephews.
In respect of Maria’s wishes, she will be privately cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Funeral Service will be offered on Tuesday morning, March 19, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 376 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ.
