Frances (Speciale) Bonanni

Frances (nee Speciale) Bonanni, 84, of Hazlet, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Bayshore Medical Center, Holmdel, New Jersey surrounded by family.  Frances was born on November1, 1939 in Casteldaccia, Palermo, Italy to her beloved parents, Antonino and Antonina (DiSalvo) Speciale. She met the love of her life, Lawrence Bonanni when he was visiting in Italy. Frances moved to New York City, New York on October 20, 1960. She married Lawrence on June 3, 1962, and they began their life together in Brooklyn, New York.  It was several years later in 1966 that they moved to Hazlet, New Jersey where they raised their family and continued to live. 

Frances was a dedicated parishioner of Saint Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, New Jersey. She enjoyed her work as a beautician at Hair Philosophy in Hazlet, New Jersey. Her coworkers and loyal customers at Hair Philosophy were a second family to her. She enjoyed laughing with them, sharing stories and was always there to lend an ear and her heart to everyone she met. They are the reason she continued her career for over 40 years. Frances loved painting, sewing, cooking and gardening. Frances and Lawrence did extensive traveling through Europe during their early years of retirement. Frances loved seeing new cultures with her deep love of Italy as her favorite place to visit and see family. She enjoyed spending time and attending social events at the Matawan Italian American Association.  Above all else, she was an amazing woman, loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, and  grandmother. Frances will always be a role model of strength, determination and courage to her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed, always loved, and never forgotten. 

She is predeceased by her parents, Antonino, and Antonina (DiSalvo) Speciale and her daughter in law, Debbie Bonanni. Frances is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 61 years, Lawrence Bonanni, her loving children, Paul Bonanni of Indian Trail, North Carolina, Laura Castorino and her husband Allan of Matawan, New Jersey and Rosalia Nocerino and her husband Peter of Eastchester, New York, her cherished grandchildren, Michael Castorino, Christopher Bonanni, Ryan Nocerino, Sean Nocerino and Grace Nocerino as well as her caring sisters, Maria, Antonia and Domenica and brother Andrew.  

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024, from 8:30 am until 10:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Highway/Route 35, Hazlet, New Jersey   07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Saint Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey   07733.  Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery/Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.
