William J. White

      William J. White, 82, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Atrium Health in Matawan, New Jersey.  William was born on February 19, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in the Greenpoint section.  On February 27, 1954, William married his wife, Edna, and they began their life together.  In 1962, they relocated to West Keansburg, New Jersey, and soon after, moved to Keansburg, New Jersey, where they raised their family.  Later in life, William and his wife Edna retired to North Fort Myers, Florida, where they remained for 10 years, before returning to New Jersey, settling in Hazlet.  Before retirement, William worked for the freight forwarding company Karr Ellis & Company in Manhattan, NY, having started there when he was a teenager as a messenger and retiring as Vice President.  William enjoyed playing poker, and was a walking encyclopedia when it came to information and facts on boxing and baseball.  He was also an avid New York Mets fan.  His family lovingly described him as, "The Best Little Daddy, Grandpa, and Papa in the whole world!"

     He was predeceased by his parents, James White and Helen (Friel) White Casey, his beloved wife, Edna (Rougeau) White, and his siblings, Dolores White Murphy and James White.  William is survived by his adoring daughters, Robin M. Linson and her husband, Thomas, of Hazlet, New Jersey, and Kelly Madden and her husband, Michael, of Keansburg, New Jersey, his dear brother, Robert White and his wife, Maria, of Middle Village, New York, his cherished grandchildren, William Linson, Theresa Linson, and Faith Madden, and his loving companion, Alice Bender of Hazlet, New Jersey.  He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

     Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM, and Friday morning, October 21, 2016 from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Route/Highway 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered on Friday morning at approximately 10:30 AM.  Entombment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, 456 State Route/Highway 35, Middletown, New Jersey 07701.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
