William F. McHenry, 78, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. William was born on May 25, 1938 in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he grew up and attended James J. Ferris High School. On April 4, 1970, William married his beloved wife, Margaret, better known as Peggy, and they started their life together in Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey. A few years later, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey to raise their family. William had a 40 year career in communications electronics working for WorldCom, MCI and most notably Western Union for over 20 years. He was currently retired.

William was a very generous, loving man, and his family described him as "a kid at heart”. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was eager to share his knowledge with those around him. It was well known that William could fix anything. It wasn’t uncommon for a TV to be sitting in a million pieces on the dining table. And was always busy with some sort home repair. He had a huge heart and was greatly loved by everyone he knew, especially his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Olga (Miller) McHenry, and his brother-in-law, Bob Holzapfel. William is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 46 years, Margaret "Peggy" (Bernhart) McHenry, his loving children, Craig W. McHenry and his wife, Tetine Sentell, of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jeannine McHenry and her husband, Anthony Vito Fiore, of Hermosa Beach, California. He is also survived by his dear siblings, Carol Trimboli and her husband, Sal, Barbara Holzapfel, Jim McHenry and his wife, Barbara, Hank McHenry, and Mike McHenry and his wife, Maureen, along with his cherished grandchildren, Linden McHenry, Maile McHenry, and Enzo Fiore, and many treasured nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

In respect of William's wishes, he will be privately cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home during visitation hours. William's family invites all attending his memorial service to please feel free to dress in fun, casual clothing, in reflection of William's fun and positive personality, in celebration of his life.
