Richard J. Hassmiller Jr.

Richard J. Hassmiller Jr., 70, of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his daughter's home on Monday, February 19, 2018.  Richard was born on April 12, 1947 in Bayonne, New Jersey, where he grew up.  On April 20, 1970, Richard and his wife, Barbara, were married and began their lives together in Bayonne, before settling in Keyport in 1977 to raise their family.  Before retirement, Richard proudly served the Hudson County Police Department as a Lieutenant for many years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Caroline (O'Connor) Hassmiller Sr., his daughter, Carolyn T. Hassmiller, and his brothers-in-law, Lloyd Williams and Richard Lockard.  Richard is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 47 years, Barbara (Lockard) Hassmiller, his loving children, Richard J. Hassmiller III and his wife, Danielle, of Howell, New Jersey, Kelly Antonucci and her husband, Tom, of Middletown, New Jersey, and Robert J. Hassmiller of Keyport, New Jersey, along with his dear sister, Joyce Williams, and his cherished grandchildren, Ryan J. Hassmiller, Cassidy Antonucci, Sean Hassmiller, Thomas Antonucci, Emily Hassmiller, and Joshua Antonucci.  Richard will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday morning, February 24, 2018 from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, February 24, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Road, Middletown, New Jersey 07748.  In respect of Richard's wishes, he will be privately cremated, and his cremains will be interred at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown at a later date.  In loving memory of Richard, memorial contributions to the Carolyn Theresa Hassmiller Scholarship Fund at Georgian Court College, 900 Lakewood Avenue, Lakewood, New Jersey 08701, would be greatly appreciated.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
