Muriel C. (Stockwell) Lyons
September 30, 1923 ~ April 26, 2016 (age 92) 92 Years OldMuriel C. Lyons, 92, of Belford, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday evening, April 26, 2016 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. She was born Muriel C. Stockwell on September 30, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York, where she grew up. On November 19, 1944, Muriel and her husband, William, were married and began their life together. In 1985, she and her family moved to Williamstown, New Jersey and in 2002, she settled in Belford. Before retirement, Muriel worked for New York Telephone Company in Manhattan, New York as a telephone operator. Muriel was also a devout member of the Williamstown Assembly of God Church. She was predeceased by her parents, William T. and Margaret M. (Groth) Stockwell, and her beloved husband, William F. Lyons. Muriel is survived by her loving daughters, Linda Hutchinson and her husband, Guy, of Newfield, New Jersey, Susan Lyons of Conway, South Carolina, and Diane O. Johannessen and her husband, Roy, of Belford, New Jersey. She is also survived by her dear sister, Joan Carmody, her cherished grandchildren, Karen Dean, Scot Hutchinson, Carolyn Shearin, Holly Zoppina, Billy Johannessen, Colleen Andrews, Roy Johannessen, and Melissa Wilson, along with 17 adored great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and her treasured dog, Max. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
In respect of Muriel's wishes, she will be privately cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered during visitation hours.
