John Henry Yochum, 81, passed from this life on to the next on February 5, 2016.  John was born on October 24, 1934 in Passaic, New Jersey, to the late Charles and Helen (Schwartz) Yochum. John served with the Unites States Marines and Air Force.  After being honorably discharged from both, he had a long career with Western Pest Control.  He lived in Belleville, New Jersey for many years, before retiring to Toms River, New Jersey.  John was an avid Giants and Yankee fan.  He was a member of many social clubs, loved reading and clipping newspaper articles, arguing politics with his daughter-in-law, and he always made sure he was meticulous with his appearance, even in the hospital.  John will always be remembered for his absolute devotion to his wife and son, and his love of his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Joseph and Charles Yochum.  John is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 56 years, Adalyn (Zinna) Yochum, his loving son Anthony Yochum and his wife Lorraine, and his dear sister, Helen (Yochum) Tuminelli.  Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Branch Brook Memorial Home, 101 Union Ave, Belleville, New Jersey  07109.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 20 Brookline Avenue, Nutley, New Jersey 07110.  In respect of John's wishes, he will be privately cremated.   John's family would like to give special thanks to AristaCare at Manchester for taking care of John in his final days.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in loving memory of John to the Wounded Warriors Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org or the American Lung Association, www.lung.org
