John Edward Devaney

      John Edward Devaney, 54, of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the University Hospital of Newark, New Jersey.  John was born on April 12, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York, and in 1970, moved to Hazlet, New Jersey, with his family where he was raised.  In 1994, he relocated to Aberdeen Township, New Jersey and in 2008, moved to Matawan, New Jersey. In 2014, John ultimately settled in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.  He was predeceased by his father, Richard P. Devaney Sr., his brother, Richard P. Devaney Jr., and his son, Tyler Devaney. John is survived by his beloved mother, Catherine Clinton Devaney, his loving son, Brian Devaney of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, his dear siblings, Carol Rechten and her husband, Keith, of Hazlet, New Jersey, Cathy Egan and her husband, Robert, of Hazlet, New Jersey, his granddaughter, Audrey Devaney, his ex-wife, Carol J. Devaney, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.  He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

       Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday evening, July 21, 2016 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home at 6:00 PM. In respect of John's wishes, he will be privately cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of John to the New Hope Foundation, would be greatly appreciated.
