James P. Benson

    James P. Benson, 84, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 8, 2017 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey.  He was born on November 6, 1932 in Inglewood, California, where he grew up.  In 1965, James moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he met his wife, Jeanette.  On November 7, 1970, they were married and began their lives together.  In 1998, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey. Before retirement, James worked for Engelhard Industries in Newark, New Jersey. He was predeceased by his parents.  James is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Jeanette C. (Brusco) Benson, his loving daughter, Lisa J. Vanderbilt and her husband, Darryl, of Florida, along with his cherished grandson, Mathew Vanderbilt.  He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

     Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning, January 12, 2017 from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 3269 Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday morning, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.
