Gumersindo Cabrera Jr.

        Gumersindo Cabrera Jr., 60, of Hazlet, New Jersey passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 at his home in Hazlet.  Gumersindo was born on June 28, 1955 in Puerto Rico, where he spent his childhood.  In 1963, he and his family settled in Manhattan, New York. In 1970, his family moved to Bushwick, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. In June of 1976, Gumersindo married the love of his life, Maritza (Rios) Cabrera, and in 1998, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey with their family. Before retiring, Gumersindo worked as a supervisor for the United States Postal Service. Gumersindo is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Maritza (Rios) Cabrera, his loving parents, Gumersindo Sr. and Ana (Rodriguez) Cabrera, his beloved children, Jessica Burgos and her husband Evan of Brooklyn, New York, Stephanie Joe and her husband Marcel of Hazlet, New Jersey, Joseph Cabrera and his wife Alyssa of California, and Christina McCall and her husband Jonathan of California.  Gumersindo is also survived by his dear siblings, Anna, George, Jose, Michael, Madeline, Patricia, Kim, Joanna, John Gennaro, Julissa, and Maria Angeley, along with his cherished grandchildren, Evan Burgos, Christian Joe, Emma Joe, Jaden Burgos, Natalee Burgos, K'Aliah Joe, Sophia McCall, Zoe Cabrera, Payton McCall, Marcus Burgos, Ava Cabrera, Caleb Burgos, and Ethal McCall. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

      Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  Visitation services will also be held on Saturday morning, February 13, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 14 Reynolds Drive, Eatontown, New Jersey 07724. A service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Eatontown, New Jersey.
