William F. McCloskey, 52, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024. William was born on February 17, 1972, in Chatham, New Jersey. He spent his childhood in California, as well as Rochester, New York, before he and his family returned to Monmouth County, New Jersey. After marriage, William settled in Hazlet to raise his family.
William received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and graduated from NYU with an MBA from the Stern School of Business. Throughout his financial career, he was a VP for Pension Risk Reinsurance and became a CFA charter holder. William was also a proud member of Mensa, a non-profit organization open to people who score at the 98th percentile or higher on a standardized, supervised IQ or other approved intelligence test.
In William’s spare time, he was an avid golfer, played chess, and watched his favorite football team every Sunday, the San Diego Chargers. In addition to the San Diego Chargers, he was also a huge fan of the San Diego Padres. Over the years, William loved playing sports with his three children and teaching them everything he knew. He was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. William will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Maureen (Carrington) McCloskey, and his brother, Jay McCloskey. William is survived by his beloved wife, Kelly McCloskey, his loving children, Jack McCloskey, Paige McCloskey, and Jamie McCloskey, and his dear siblings, Joan Downey and her husband, Shawn, Kevin McCloskey and his wife, Sarah, Kathy Forster and her husband, Robert, Maryellen Kiely and her husband, John, and Theresa Kennedy and her husband, Shaun. William also leaves behind his adoring mother-in-law and father-in-law, Timothy and Rosemary Walsh, his treasured sister-in-law, Jennifer Kistler and her husband, David, his cherished four-legged friend, his dog, Mason, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, March 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.
