William J. Ackerson

William J. Ackerson, 74, of Laurence Harbor, New Jersey, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.  William was born on September 19, 1946 in Long Branch, New Jersey.  He grew up in Holmdel, where lived until settling in Laurence Harbor in 1984.  Before his retirement, William worked as a mechanic and instructor for Foley Caterpillar in Piscataway, New Jersey for many years.  In his spare time, he was a board member and coached for the Laurence Harbor Little League and Raritan Bay Cougars.  William was an avid Balloonist, and in 1999 competed in the Chateau de Balleroy as a member of the Malcom Forbes Team.  He was also a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard.  Most of all, William was a loving son, father, brother, and grandfather.  He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Doris (Sulzmann) Ackerson, and his dear brother, Robert James Ackerson.  William is survived by his loving sons, Kevin Ackerson of Laurence Harbor, New Jersey, and Tom Wolfe and his wife, Jennifer, of Freehold, New Jersey, and his cherished grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Mason, and McKenzie Wolfe.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home at 1:00 PM on Saturday.  Committal service and interment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
