Walter E. Brown, 93, of Union Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Bayshore Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. Walter was born on September 6, 1927 in Newark, New Jersey, and grew up in Nutley, New Jersey. Walter met his beloved wife, Anna, on a blind-date in Brooklyn, New York. In 1953, they were married and began their life together in Union Beach, where they remained to raise their family. Before his retirement, Walter was working as the Labor Foreman for Donato Construction in Eatontown, New Jersey, for many years. He was also a proud United States Navy and Marine Corps Veteran. Walter served our country with the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, where he received the Korean Service Medal, United States Service Medal and Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. Most of all, Walter was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Rose (Kelly) Brown, his beloved wife, Anna M. Brown, his son, Thomas Brown, his sister, Georgette Wells, and his son-in-law, Michael Baretto. Walter is survived by his loving daughter, Karen Barreto of Medford, his adoring daughter-in-law, Karen Brown of Union Beach, his dear brother-in-law, Frankie Wells of Union Beach, his cherished grandchildren, Brian Brown, Delaney Brown, Gene Devaney, and Christopher Devaney, and his treasured great-grandchildren, Logan, Alena, Brayden, and Sophia.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday morning, July 9, 2021, from 10:30 to 11:15 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Friday morning during visitation hours. Interment will follow Friday morning's visitation at St. Joseph Cemetery, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
