Vincent Rizzo Obituary

Vincent Anthony Rizzo, more affectionately known as “Vinny,”  82, of Sayreville, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family at Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey. Vinny was born to parents Joseph and Louise (Spina) Rizzo on January 29th, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up and spent his childhood. Vinny met the love of his life Rosemary, and they were married on July 11, 1980. They started their life together in Waldwick, NJ, before finally settling in Sayreville in 2017.

Vinny worked as a Cell Supervisor for Howmedica in Rutherford, NJ for many years prior to retirement in 1999. He continued to keep busy by acting as a Pallbearer for Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood, and also assisted as a crossing guard in Waldwick for many years. He was known by his loved ones as a simple and genuine man, who was always very loving and caring. Vinny absolutely loved food, and always insisted to “try a little of everything.” Throughout his entire life, Vinny enjoyed fishing and hunting (accompanied by his trusty beagle Bullet in his younger years). Many memories were made on the family boat “Fury,” which was a 21 foot wood Chris-Craft docked out of Mastic Beach, Long Island. In the last few years, Vinny stopped hunting, but still found the most joy at the shore house, sitting on the dock where he fished and crabbed, but most importantly he made sure that his grand children knew the proper way to do both, instilling his knowledge in the next generation. Despite not getting into the water anymore, he participated by sitting on the boat and counting the clams that were caught, getting a smile bigger and bigger with each one that came up. Above all, Vinny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed by many.

Vinny is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Louise Rizzo, his twin brother Joseph Rizzo, his brothers Richard Rizzo and Anthony Rizzo, who were also twins and his adopted son Joseph Rizzo. He is survived by his sister Louise Pellegrino. He is also survived by his loving wife of 43 years Rosemary (Fiore) Rizzo, his children Vincent J. Rizzo and his wife Christina, Rosanne Leathem and her husband Ted, and Michael Rizzo and his partner Adam Pecoraro, his grandchildren Haley, Michaela, Brayden, Natalie, and Joseph, his great-grandson Saint, and his “Grand-dog” Cooper, who spent most of the day sitting right by his side.

In respect of Vinny’s wishes, he will be privately cremated.  Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered during the visitation hours at the funeral home.
