Victor B. Lembo, 80, of Union Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey,
He was born on February 12, 1946, in Long Branch, New Jersey, to Joseph & Susan (Buccino) Lembo, the youngest of their six children. He was raised in Union Beach and later built a house for his own family around the corner from his childhood home. Victor was well known and respected within his community. He was a man of quiet strength, and those who knew him appreciated his steady presence, his honesty, and his need for few words.
Victor began his lifelong work as a mason contractor as a teenager. Masonry was the family trade beginning with his father and passed down to him and his brothers. He began working alongside his brothers Art and Joe and eventually formed his own masonry contracting business. One would be hard pressed to drive through streets of the Bayshore without seeing a stoop, foundation, chimney or home that wasn’t built or repaired by one of the Lembo brothers. Victor was very talented in his craft and continued the family masonry trade by training the next two generations, sharing not only his knowledge, but also his work ethic and standards.
Victor had many interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He was an avid sports fan, built and raced boats and cars and gained a reputation for his high-powered engines. He was a huge NASCAR fan and attended races and museums throughout the country. Vic was a season ticket holder for the New York Giants, attending countless games with family and friends. He was a coach for the community football and baseball teams and followed his children’s and grandchildren’s’ sports, dance and music careers closely. He loved music, and for ten years he and Janice enjoyed annual doo wop cruises, where they made lasting memories and friends. He took pride in his home, yard and garden always trimming, fertilizing his grass & growing tomatoes. Vic transformed his entire garage attic into a model train layout with sprawling, meticulously crafted landscape of winding tracks, bustling rail yards, and tiny towns that brought his love of the railroads to life for him, his children and especially his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Susan (Buccino) Lembo, and by his siblings, Edwin Lembo and his wife Marita, Arthur Lembo and his wife Mary, Sophie Jackapino and her husband Anthony, and Joseph Lembo and his wife Joan. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-laws, Vince Territo and George F. Trampler. Their memories remained an important part of his life, and he carried his family ties with great pride and devotion.
Victor is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Janice (Trampler) Lembo, his loving children, Steven McCarthy and his wife Tami, Joseph Lembo and his wife Linda, and Nicole Holt and her husband Randel, his former wife, Carmella Howard and his dear sister, Marian Territo. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Steven McCarthy, Randel Holt Jr., Cameron Holt and her fiancé Tony Cruz, Joseph N Lembo, and Lauren Lembo, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever hold his memory close.
Victor will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his devotion to family, his love of home, his quiet demeaner and that “Lembo” smile. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and love that will continue to be cherished by all who knew him.
