Remembering Thomasina (Cookie) Paczos
Thomasina (Cookie) Paczos, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away at home at the age of 69, on March 12, 2026.
Early Life and Home
Born on October 15, 1956, at Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey, Cookie spent her childhood and formative years in Jersey City. Later, she made her home in Middletown, New Jersey, where she shared her life with her husband Richard and their loyal pets Leia and Yoda. Cookie’s home was always open, a place filled with laughter and friendship, where both brief visits and long conversations were welcomed. She formed many lasting friendships throughout her life, making memories with all who crossed her path.
A Life of Compassion and Joy
Cookie was known for her compassionate soul and generous heart. She loved animals, brought joy with her infectious laughter, and had a unique talent for turning ordinary moments into celebrations. A dedicated professional, she worked for many years and retired from Flexi-Van Corporation as a manager. Beyond her career, Cookie delighted in weekend trips to Atlantic City, entertaining friends at home—especially during holidays—and pursuing her passions for reading, cooking, and caring for loved ones and friends. She was a proud high school graduate, and her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met.
Family and Resilience
Family meant everything to Cookie. Her loved ones always knew she was only a phone call away, ready to listen, offer support, or give advice. She will be remembered for her incredible resilience; some even called her a "walking miracle" after surviving cancer twice. Cookie faced every challenge with strength and an unwavering love for life, finding humor even in difficult moments and always bouncing back with determination. Her family cherished her deeply—she was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, aunt, and grandparent—and she will be missed every day.
Legacy and Loved Ones
Cookie is predeceased by her parents, Loretta and Thomas Stewart, her sister Theresa Mocarski and her husband John, and her nephew Mark Mocarski. She leaves behind her loving husband Richard, her son Fernando (Freddie) Stewart, sister Bernadette Smith, brother Michael Smith, granddaughters Felicia Koehler (Michael) and Katelyn Stewart, great-grandsons Michael and Jack Koehler, stepdaughter Jeanette Paczos (Felice Cimino), her faithful dogs Leia and Yoda, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends and family members who will cherish her memory forever.
Cookie will be remembered by all who loved her.
