Thomas Joseph Murray, 74, of Manchester, New Jersey and Lake Worth, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 20th, 2022. Thomas was born in Newark, New Jersey, on August 24th, 1947, where he grew up. On January 15, 1966, Thomas and his beloved wife, Patricia, were married and began their life together in Montclair. Around 1970, they relocated to Union Beach, where they lived for 45 years raising their family. After, Thomas and Patricia spent his remaining years living in Manchester, New Jersey and Lake Worth, Florida, where he and his family “wintered” for the last 19 years. Thomas was an award-winning software engineer for Verizon, where he worked for 38 years. He was also the Past President and Ex-Captain of the Harris Gardens Fire Company in Union Beach. In his spare time, Tom was an avid golfer. He was the President of Poinciana Men’s Golf League, and a Chairman of Leisure Village Golf Club in Manchester. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents James F. and Margaret (Preston) Murray, his siblings, James F. Murray III, and Margaret MacDonald. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 56 years, Patricia (Monahan) Murray, his loving children, Thomas J Murray Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Hazlet, Daniel Murray and his wife, Carol, of Chesapeake, VA, and Michael M. Murray and his wife, Krista, of Union Beach, his cherished grandchildren, TJ and his wife, Violeta, Amanda, Sarah, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Kelsey, and Kayleigh, and his adored great-grandchildren, Mattis and Kevin, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Tom will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, May 31st, 2022, from 3:00PM to 7:00PM, and Wednesday morning, June 1st, 2022, from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 3269 Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, NJ, 07730. Interment will follow Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 360 Broadway, Keyport, NJ, 07735.
