Thomas Aris Obituary

Thomas E. Aris, 79, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ.  Born on March 18, 1946, in Manhattan, NY, where he attended Aviation High School. He then moved to Middletown, NY in 1971 and then to Middletown, NJ in 2021, where he remained. Tom's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his family, his work, and his community, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.

Tom retired after many years in the management field with N.Y. Telephone, where he was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Tom also shared his love for the sport as a youth hockey coach. His community service stretched from driving seniors as a Town of Wallkill NY Dial-A-Bus driver to volunteering for the Orange County American Cancer Society. He served as a board member of the Friends of Thrall Library and enjoyed lending a hand at their bookstore, where reading and collecting books was a favorite hobby.

A true New Yorker at heart, Tom's unwavering support for the New York Rangers and New York Mets was well-known among friends and family. After moving to New Jersey, he quickly became an integral part of the Shady Oaks Owls group and served as an ambassador for the Brighton Gardens Senior Living community. There, he welcomed and supported new residents and families, ensuring that everyone felt at home.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ruth (Myers) Aris, and his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy (Attanasio). His legacy continues through his wonderful children, Kathleen M. Aris of Hazlet, NJ, and Suzanne M. LoBue, along with her husband Christopher of Hazlet, NJ and his cherished granddaughters, Sophia and Abigail LoBue, who will forever hold onto the precious memories created with their grandfather. He is also survived by his sisters Joan Kline and Theresa Letavish and countless friends and family who loved him dearly.
