It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Theresa Cool, neé Glennon, 82, of Keyport, NJ. Theresa passed on December 31, 2025 with her family by her side. The youngest of Mary Swift Glennon’s ten children, Theresa was born on October 4, 1943, in Ashley, Pennsylvania, moving to Bloomfield NJ in 1966 and in 2001 to Keyport, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband Willie in 2007 after 43 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters Caryn Cavallaro (husband Michael, children Michael, Cory (husband Zack Holm), and Casey (husband Alek Marinaro), Colleen Babnew (husband Jack, sons Jack and Ryan (wife Julie Guacci), Christine Catalano (husband John, daughters Cara and Carissa), and Candie DelGaudio (husband Marc, children Max and Chiara), as well as her great-grandchildren Dimitri and Cassandra Holm and Franco Marinaro.
Theresa earned her nickname of Mama Cool, while she may have married into the name, the attitude was all hers. You could not find anyone prouder of their Irish heritage, more fiercely independent, or prouder to raise four strong women. Her daughters were her very own luck of the Irish, and each of them is, in their own way, a testament to that. Nobody better embodied the unshakeable Irish tenacity, and nobody can question her devotion to the Cool Girls. We’ll never know for sure, but we like to think that she coined the expression “There are only two types of people in the world; the Irish and those who wish they were.”
After her family, Theresa prided herself on her decorations; you never had to wonder which holiday was approaching, you just had to visit. Her specialties were St Patrick’s Day and Christmas. St Patrick’s Day came with a steady supply of shamrocks and Bailey’s. Christmas was marked by the smell of a bayberry candle and the cutest Santa Claus she could find, ideally Coca-Cola. While she was admittedly more of a homebody, she made her exceptions to go out and celebrate both St Patrick and St Nicholas. Theresa will be remembered in the sound of an Elvis record, the taste of a Coors Light, and the firm but loving look that only she could give.
“Bring me all the flowers today, whether pink or white or red. I’d rather have one blossom now than a truckload when I’m dead.”
Per her wishes, services will be private.
This is not quite a goodbye, but rather, I’ll see ya when I see ya.
Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
