Theresa (Prevete) Callandrillo

    Theresa J Callandrillo, 95, of Jersey City, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2023 at the Villas Assisted Living Community in Holmdel, NJ.  Theresa was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Philip and Vincenza Prevete.  She was a devoted wife and mother, and is survived by her son Anthony and wife Jessica, son Philip and wife Jane, and two grandchildren, Joseph and Christina and many nieces and nephews.  She was married 70 years to her late husband Joseph. The last of 11 brothers and sisters, James, Anthony, Philip, Jerry, Rudy, Arthur, Marie, Lucile, Connie, Jean and grandson William will be with her now.  

    Her family, particularly her grandchildren, were the most important thing in her life.  She kept a spotless home, loved to cook, bake and made many of the traditional Italian foods.  She enjoyed her jigsaw puzzles, word search books and playing cards. Her hobbies included sewing, cross stitching, decorating the home for every holiday and planting beautiful flowers/plants, which many people adored. She volunteered at Christ Hospital for 20 years in the children's ward, receiving many awards for her service to her community.  She was without a doubt the head of the household and wasn't afraid to put you in your place and say whatever was on her mind.  She had a special place in her heart for a long time family friend, Thomas Campana, who would always look out for her best interest and referred to him as her other son.

    In her short time at the Villas Assisted Living Community she made new friends and loved the staff.  She will be missed by her family and friends for making such an impact in the neighborhood in which she lived and raised her children for over 70 years.  She was truly a woman of character.

   Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home at approximately 3:00 PM.  In respect of Theresa's wishes, she will be privately cremated.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
