Tanya Corrigan Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Tanya Corrigan, who passed away on May 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Tanya was born on January 11, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, to Martha and Stanley Holbowitch. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. She was predeceased by her siblings, George Holbowitch, Thomas Holbowitch, and Phyllis Hensler, as well as her beloved husband, James “Jimmy” Corrigan, who passed away in 2000.

Tanya met the love of her life, James Ryan Corrigan, and they were married in 1964 before settling in Staten Island, New York. Their love was something truly special, so strong that she always joked she loved him enough to marry him twice.

She was a devoted mother to Michele and Maureen, and was predeceased by her son, Thomas. To so many others, she was simply “Mama,” a title she carried with warmth and pride. Her home was always open, a place where everyone was welcome, well-fed, and made to feel like family.

Tanya was a gifted artist with a passion for creating. Whether it was handcrafted Christmas ornaments, wedding favors, or her beautiful oil paintings that still grace our walls, she shared her talent generously. She found joy in gardening, crocheting, antiquing, and spending time on the water aboard their boat named “The Rusty Nail.”  She was also an avid gamer.  She loved crossword puzzles and was a Scrabble savage.

She worked for many years in the finance department at Chase Manhattan Bank in downtown New York City. After retiring, she and Jimmy made their home in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania, in a house they lovingly called “Red Wing.” It became the heart of countless cherished memories. Tanya especially loved sitting by her picture window, watching the deer and wildlife pass by, and filling her home with treasures found during their antiquing adventures.

Tanya showed incredible strength throughout her life, including her determination to recover from a debilitating stroke years ago. Despite life’s challenges, she filled her years with love, laughter, and lasting friendships. She had a vibrant spirit, a contagious laugh, and an unmatched ability to see the good in everyone. If she loved you, she let you know it in more ways than one.

She was a devoted grandmother to Erin Boisineau (and her husband, Zach Boisineau) and Kathleen Sarnes, and a proud great-grandmother to James Sarnes, Nicholas Williams, and Charlotte Boisineau. Her love for her family was boundless, and we are forever grateful for the time we shared with her.

Tanya will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In respect of Tanya's wishes, she will be privately cremated. We ask that you keep Tanya in your thoughts and prayers.  Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway 35, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  For information or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com
