Thomas “Gregg” Barber, 68, passed away peacefully at home on December 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 3, 1957, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Gregg grew up with an innate curiosity about how things worked—an interest that would shape both his career and his character.
A lifelong mechanic, Gregg approached every engine, appliance, and everyday puzzle with a problem-solver’s mind and a good-natured shrug at life’s inevitable “glitches.” His ability to fix nearly anything was matched only by his ability to make people laugh while doing it. Gregg never missed a chance to share a joke or recount a story from his youth—often involving some harmless mischief—and his easygoing spirit made him a steady, comforting presence to everyone who knew him.
Family was at the center of Gregg’s world. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, known for his generosity, patience, and the gentle humor that brightened even the most ordinary moments. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Jefferson Barber and Edith Joy Barber, whom he cherished deeply.Gregg is survived by his sister, Susan Gamba; his loving wife and partner of 45 years, Jacqueline Scala Barber; his daughter, Kelsey Barber, and son-in-law, Marshal Majchrzak—all of whom will carry forward his kindness, his warmth, and his enduring love of a good story.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, December 15th, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
