Stephen Tassio Obituary

Stephen E. Tassio, 82, of Eutawville, South Carolina, formerly of Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Bayshore Medical Center, Holmdel, New Jersey.  Stephen was born in San Francisco, California on January 21, 1942, to his loving parents, John and Laura (Podesta) Tassio.  Stephen moved to Cliffwood Beach in 1965 after marrying the love of his life, Patricia Ashman, on October 23, 1965. In the year 2000, they moved to Eutawville, South Carolina where they remained.  He served his country honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Agerholm (DD-826) from 1960-1965, during the Vietnam War. He retired after many years from the U.A. Lead Burners Local 596/421, Linden, New Jersey/Charleston, South Carolina where he worked as a Lead Burner.

 

Stephen enjoyed bowling in the Idiots Delight Bowling League and took pride in coaching in the Mid-Madison Girls’ Softball League in Laurence Harbor, New Jersey. He loved playing softball for various leagues in the area, fishing, golfing, woodworking, faithfully cheering on his San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers, and spending time with his family.

 

Stephen was predeceased by his beloved parents, John and Laura (Podesta) Tassio, his cherished son, Stephen Eugene Tassio, Jr., his siblings, twin brother John Tassio and Marie Robin, and his brother-in-law, John Ashman and his wife Marlene.  He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Ashman Tassio, his caring daughters, Toni Leigh Tassio of Cliffwood Beach and Tina Marie DeGirarde and her husband Robert of Cliffwood Beach, his brother-in-law and close friend, Joseph Ashman and his wife Rene of Laurence Harbor, his sisters-in-law Mary Wicoff and her husband Lewis of Eutawville, South Carolina and JoAnn Moreno and her husband Henry of Mena, Arkansas. Stephen is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Garrett Stephen, Ethan Joseph, and Griffin Charles, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and lifelong friends.
