Stephen E. Podracky, 82, of Ocean, New Jersey passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. He was born on July 3, 1941 in Newark, New Jersey. Steve grew up in Newark and in 1957 he and his family moved to Hazlet. Steve and his wife JoAnn settled in Leonardo in 1971 where they raised their family and in 2014 retired to Ocean.
Steve was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a sharp shooter and recipient of a Good Conduct medal. He was a self employed decorator, painter and wallpaper hanging contractor. He was a proud member for over 25 years, and also past secretary and treasurer of the Association of Professional Painting and Decorator Contractors of New Jersey. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 6552 in Leonardo. Steve was also a member of the Bocce, Billard and Chorus clubs at Cedar Village in Ocean. He was an avid gardener and enjoy growing flowers and vegetables. Steve treasured his yearly fishing trips to Lake Champlain in Vermont with his sons and his loving family. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He will be sadly missed, but always remembered.
Steve was predeceased by his parents Stephan A. and Suzanne Kovac Podracky, his late siblings Walter Podracky and Judith Mescal and his late brothers in law Thomas Perry and Nelson Roman. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 59 years ( November 14, 1964 ) Josephine (JoAnn) Matthews Podracky, his children Michael Podracky and his wife Barbara of Red Bank, New Jersey, Matthew Podracky of Prescott, Arizona, Stephen J. Podracky and his wife Bridget of Chicago, Illinois, Melissa Tyburczy and her husband Philip of Middletown, New Jersey, his cherished grandchildren Chistopher Podracky and his wife Jennifer, Jaime, Katherine, Lily, Stephen, Anna, and Sophie Podracky, Nathaniel, Michael, Daniel and Sarah Tyburczy, his dear siblings Susan Deany, Mildred Collela and her husband Roland, Barbara Perry, Elizabeth Roman, Ellen Delonardo and her husband Patsy, brother in law, Robert Mescal along with many nieces nephews, extended family and many friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday August 18, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. Prior to the Mass of Christian Burial there will be a visitation beginning at 9:30 AM in the chapel at Saint Anselm Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow and be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Church of Saint Anselm, 1028 Wayside Road, Wayside, New Jersey 07712.
