Shawn P. Gibbons

Shawn P. Gibbons, 52, of Union Beach, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel.  Shawn was born on December 29, 1971, in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he grew up.  On March 21, 1997, Shawn and his beloved wife, Michele, were married and began their life together in Bayonne, New Jersey.  A few years later in 2003, they settled in Union Beach, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their family.  Shawn worked as a train engineer for the PATH for many years and was also a proud member of the Union Beach Fire Company #1.  Most of all, Shawn was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many.  He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

He was predeceased by his father, William M. Gibbons, his son, Matthew Gibbons, his sister, Cynthia Gibbons, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Christopher and Patricia Balis, and his brother-in-law, Joseph Nicoletti.  Shawn is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 27 years, Michele (Balis) Gibbons, his loving children, Sean M. Gibbons and Kaylyn M. Gibbons, his adoring mother, Barbara J. (Swift) Gibbons, and his dear siblings, Kathy Hall and her husband, Jim, of Middletown, Patricia Nicoletti of Bayonne, William G. Gibbons and his wife, Barbara, of Belford, Kevin Gibbons and his wife, Kim, of Manchester, and Brian Gibbons and his wife, Shari, of Howell.  Shawn also leaves behind his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Christie and Jason Groce and many treasured nieces, nephews, a great niece and two great nephews, extended family, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, morning, April 29, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735.  In respect of Shawn’s wishes, he will be privately cremated.  In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Shawn to Union Beach Fire Company #1, 1110 Union Avenue, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735, would be greatly appreciated.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
