Sean Bergen Obituary

Sean Bergen, who was known for his loving, joking, and gentle nature, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, on July 23, 2026, at Centra State Medical Center in Freehold, New Jersey, at the age of 40.

Born on December 17, 1985, in Freehold, New Jersey, Sean brought warmth and light to the lives of those around him throughout his life. He was adopted in 1987 by his wonderful parents, Eugene and Joung Soon Bergen, and moved to Union Beach, New Jersey, where he made his home and made wonderful memories. From an early age, Sean was surrounded by love, and he returned that love in the many ways he expressed himself each day.

Sean was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Eugene and Joung Soon Bergen of Union Beach, New Jersey, his caring sister, Teresa Hicks, and her husband, Michael, also of Union Beach, New Jersey, and his adoring nieces and nephews, Liam, Landon, and Isla. His family was the center of his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Sean deeply loved his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bergen, his sister Teresa, and his family. Seeing his family always brought a smile to his face.

Sean was a vibrant and energetic young man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed watching Judge Judy and the Game Show Network, and he especially liked listening to talk radio with his favorite radio. He enthusiastically looked forward to attending his daily program at ARC, where he found routine, companionship, and purpose. These daily rhythms were important to him, and they reflected the steady and familiar life he appreciated. He found happiness in the things he loved, and his interests were a meaningful part of who he was. Sean loved going for rides, ice cream trips, bowling, dancing, and attending Western Monmouth Day Program. His enthusiasm, playful spirit, and infectious smile brought happiness to everyone around him. Sean especially loved bowling and dancing. Whether knocking down pins or showing off his dance moves, he lit up when staff and friends cheered him on. He had a mischievous personality, a love for laughter, and a special way of making every moment more fun.

Those who knew Sean will remember his kind heart and his gentle spirit. He was loving in his relationships, funny in his own special way, and gentle in his manner. His presence was a comfort to his family, and his memory will continue to be a source of strength and tenderness for all who loved him. Sean was taken from us far too soon, but the joy, laughter, and memories he shared will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, peers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, always loved and never forgotten.

Though his time here was far too short, the love he gave and received will remain forever in the hearts of his family.  Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey  07730.
