Sarah Ogbin Obituary

Sarah F. Ogbin, 83, of Hazlet, New Jersey, formerly of Bayonne, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday morning, March 30, 2022.  She was born Sarah F. DeAngeles on January 19, 1939, in Jersey City, New Jersey.  At ten years old her mother remarried and she took the name of, the man who raised her, William Peveler.  Sarah lived in various places throughout the United States due to her father’s career with the United States Navy.  Of all the places she lived Norfolk, Virginia held a special place in her heart.  It was there that she became Queen of the May in 1956 and formed a band called,  “Two Keys and a Chord.”  Sarah and two of her closest friends sang on a Saturday morning television show and at various military clubs.  Sarah loved to sing.   

In 1957 her father was reassigned to a base in California.  She was introduced, by her father, to her beloved husband Harry, and shortly after they were married on August 14, 1958.   After marriage, they settled in Bayonne, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their family.  Sarah worked as a cashier at Steve’s Shoprite for over 20 years. She remained in Bayonne until about five years ago when she moved to Hazlet with her daughter Holly, and her family.  Most of all, Sarah’s greatest joy in life was being a grandmother to her six cherished grandchildren.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and cousin.  Sarah will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Sarah is survived by her loving children, Harry Ogbin and his wife Lisa,  Dina Six, Dawn Ogbin, and Holly LoCascio and her husband Edward.  She is also survived by her dear siblings, John DeAngeles and his wife Karen, Deborah Peveler-Segura and her husband Lou, Tamara Schwartz, and her step-brother James Peveler along with her cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Amber, Julia, Jesse, Gabriella, and Matthew, and many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Frances (Altomonte) Peveler, her beloved husband, Harry Ogbin, her son-in-law, Ronald Six, her sister-in-law Diana Peveler,  and her brothers-in-law, Michael Schwartz and Gregory Corcoran.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, April 3, 2022, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday morning, April 4, 2022, from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday morning, April 4, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway/Route 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735.  In respect of Sarah’s wishes, she will be privately cremated.  In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Sarah to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, or The American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org,  would be greatly appreciated.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
