Salvatore Joseph Cassati, 93, of Holmdel, formerly of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving daughters on Monday evening, June 20, 2022. Salvatore was born on February 2, 1929, in Staten Island, New York, where he grew up. He was a graduate of Port Richmond High School in Staten Island and furthered his education at Wagner University, where he received his associates degree. In adulthood, Sal worked for the Staten Island Advance in their Classified and Retail Advertising Department for many years. In 1996, Sal and his wife, Rosalie, settled in Aberdeen. He was also a proud United States Army Veteran, having served our country during the Korean Conflict.
In Sal’s spare time, he adored playing the piano. Over the years, Sal made use of his musical talents by playing the piano at many local dinner venues, including the Molly Pitcher Inn, Oyster Point, Martini's and MJ's Supper Club. He loved all types of music, but especially the 1940’s classics, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett. While living in Aberdeen, Sal was a devout parishioner of St. Clement RC Church in Matawan. Most of all, Sal was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary (Conti) Cassati, and his beloved and devoted wife of 66 years, Rosalie Barbara Cassati. Salvatore is survived by his loving daughters, Lisa Frye of Aberdeen, Lydia Sottile and her husband, Thomas, of Holmdel, and Laura Larsen-Wells and her husband, Stephen, of Aberdeen, his dear sister, Corinne Orosz of Tinton Falls, and his cherished grandchildren, Leslie Maietta and her husband, Anthony, Richard Frye and his wife, Tara, Eric Frye and his wife, Kimberly, Thomas Sottile Jr. and his wife, Elisa Chuang-Sottile, Lauren Sottile, James Larsen, and Lyndsey Larsen, along with his adored great grandchildren, Morrison, Gavin, Chloe, Callie, Raven, Winter, Wesley, and one great grandson on the way.
