Ruth V. Rittenband has passed on Friday, September 25th, 2026 in her 96th year.
She was the daughter of the late Louis and Yetta (Schneider) Lindenbaum and grew up in Brooklyn, where her early years helped shape the strong values and enduring spirit that would remain with her throughout her life. She carried with her the memories, traditions, and close ties of her upbringing, and those roots remained an important part of who she was. After leaving Brooklyn, she made Matawan, New Jersey her home and eventually settled in Port Monmouth.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Samuel J. Rittenband for 69 years, and together they shared a life filled with companionship and commitment. She was a devoted mother to Terry (Barry) Rothman and Lori (Bruce Murray) Anderson, and she took great pride in her grandchildren Jill (Tom) Lemanski and Stacey Rothman, along with her great-grandchildren Jenna, Jordan, Jocelyn, Alexa and Taylor. Her love for her family was constant and unwavering, and she found great happiness in the bonds she shared with them. She is predeceased by her siblings, Jerry Lindenbaum, Marvin Lindenbaum, and Vicky Sussman, along with her nephews, Mark Lindenbaum, Larry Lindenbaum and Steven Sussman.
Ruth always worked to help contribute to the family. No job was too menial. Her last position served as a bookkeeper for Lombardo Contracting in Hazlet, New Jersey. She was known for her reliability, attention to detail, and steady presence. Her work reflected the same care and responsibility that she brought to every part of her life. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In respect of Ruth’s wishes, she will be privately cremated. At a later date, Ruth will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Sam at Floral Park Cemetery. Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. was entrusted with her arrangements. For more information or to send condolences for the family please visit www.shorepointfh.com
