Ruskin Peter Hirujo

Ruskin Peter Hirujo, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on September 2, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on May 4, 1970, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, he lived a life marked by love, resilience, devotion, and a spirit of adventure that touched everyone who knew him. 

Pete grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey, where he built the foundation of the strong, determined, and caring man he would become. He carried with him the values of hard work, loyalty, and family throughout his life. Along with his family, he later made his home in Aberdeen, New Jersey, and most recently in Morganville, New Jersey, where he continued to surround himself with the people and experiences he cherished most. 

He met the love of his life, Alexandra, and the two were married on January 8, 1994. Their marriage of 32 years was a beautiful partnership built on devotion, trust, and enduring love. Together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and treasured memories 

Pete was a loving father to Anthony Hirujo and Daniel Hirujo. He was also a proud future father-in-law to Anthony’s fiancée, Allison Carella. His love for his children was unwavering, and he found great joy in their lives, accomplishments, and happiness. He is also survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Alexandra (Pepen) Hirujo; his loving parents, Sandra Tejeda and Rafael Hirujo; his caring siblings, Mariah Hirujo, George Hirujo and his wife Amy, and Emmanuel Hirujo and his wife Alex; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Kamani, Emmett, Avalyn, Grayson, Victoria, Maciel, and Matthew. He is further survived by an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will remember him with affection and gratitude. 

Pete had a very successful career and was respected for his dedication, professionalism, and loyalty. He began his career at Euro Brokers Inc. in New York, where he worked as a Network Engineer. He later served as Director of Infrastructure at InterDealer in New York and went on to hold a management position at ING Insurance Company. At the time of his passing, he was working as a Project Manager for Geller and Company in New York. Throughout his career, Pete earned the respect of colleagues and associates through his steady leadership, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence. 

He was also a survivor of the first World Trade Center attack in 1993 and again in 2001, experiences that reflected his strength and resilience. Those who knew him understood that he faced life with courage and perseverance, carrying himself with quiet determination through both triumph and hardship. 

Pete was an avid Mets fan and adored watching his sons play sports throughout the years. He enjoyed time at the beach, where he could relax and look ahead to his next adventure. He is fondly remembered as someone who was always on the move, full of energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for life. He especially loved creating unforgettable travel memories for his family, planning the experiences he proudly called his extravaganzas. He loved the Dominican Republic and the time spent there. He had a love for music and dancing, car shows, eating good food, drinking good drinks, and taking pictures to capture the memories and moments that meant the most to him. These moments became treasured stories that his loved ones will carry with them always. 

Pete will be remembered as a loving, adventurous, and kind man whose presence brought joy and comfort to those around him. He found happiness in the simple things and had a way of making those around him feel warm, welcome, and loved. His life was a testament to devotion to his family, commitment to his work, and a deep appreciation for the journey of life itself. Pete had an incredible smile that was contagious. He quietly carried a strength that most people could never hope to attain. Pete was reserved and continued to smile and laugh, even through all the pain.  

Above all, Pete was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and Tio. His love for his family was at the center of his life, and the memories he created with the people he loved most will remain with them forever.  

Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

In respect of Pete’s wishes, he will be privately cremated.
