Roy T. Largmann, 83, of Matawan, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, October 17, 2025. Roy was born on September 8, 1942, in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he grew up. Roy met the love of his life, Linda (Pulver) and together they were joined in marriage on March 21, 1964. They began their life together in Jersey City. In 1995, they moved to Old Bridge, New Jersey where they remained until moving to Matawan in 2013.
Roy was one of the original 37 police officers that formed the New Jersey Transit Police Department. Choosing to accept this call, to serve as a police officer was more than a job choice for Roy, it was a commitment to protect and serve. He retired in January of 2001 after 32 years of dedication and selflessness. Although dedicated to his job, Roy loved and cherished spending time with his family. He held a very special place in his heart for his four granddaughters, who without fail could bring a smile to his face. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He will be deeply missed, always loved and never forgotten.
Roy was predeceased by his loving mother and stepfather, Peter and Martha (McCann) Chawalyk , his caring siblings, Ronald Largmann and Barbara Brady and his fond son-in-law, Brian Walsh. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Linda (Pulver) Largmann, his wonderful children, Laura Walsh, Peter Largmann and his wife Michelle and Troy Largmann and his wife Kathy as well as his four adoring granddaughters, Alexis Walsh, Kaylee Walsh, Danielle Reitz and her husband Tyler and Kira Largmann.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 22, 2025,from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, October 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery/Mausoleum, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in loving memory of Roy please be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, at stjude.org.
