Rose Ioia Obituary

Rose Ioia, 96, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on Saturday, February 6th, 2021 peacefully in her sleep at her long-time home on 16th Avenue.  Rose was born on May 20th, 1924 in Manhattan, New York to Charles and Anna (Ferrara) Carollo. In her early 20’s she fell in love with Joseph Ioia, a World War II Purple Heart recipient, who she then married on September 18th, 1949.  After marriage, Rose and Joseph began their lives together in Brooklyn, New York, where they settled to raise their family.

Rose always put her trust and faith in the almighty father in Heaven. She was a lifelong Catholic that believed in the power of prayer and forgiveness.

Well into her 90’s, Rose loved getting her hair and nails done, then heading out to one of her favorite local restaurants. Those close to her know that nothing brought her more joy than when one of her grandkids would show up at her house with a fresh square pie and spumoni from L&B.  Rose left an indelible mark on her family. To say she will be missed is an understatement.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Anna (Ferrara) Carollo, her beloved husband, Joseph Ioia, her brother, Bill and two sisters, Marie and Jean.  Rose is survived by her loving children, Joseph Ioia and his wife, Gayle, of Colts Neck, New Jersey, and Carol Marra and her husband, John, of Brooklyn, New York, her dear brother, John Carollo and his wife, Marie, her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Nunziato, Nicole Intersimone, Joseph Ioia, Michael Ioia, Ashley Pascocello, Raquel Ioia, Paige Ioia, and Taylor Pascocello, and her adored great grandchildren, Annabella, Olivia, Cassie, Mia, Maximus, Salvatore, and Angelo.
