Robert S. Gurchak, 81, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Robert was born on March 24, 1939 in Carteret, New Jersey, where he spent his earlier childhood days with his family. After grammar school, they moved to Woodbridge, where he graduated Woodbridge High School. Robert and his beloved wife, Joan, met in Woodbridge and were married on November 30, 1963. They began their lives together in Woodbridge and lived in various other areas in New Jersey, before settling in Hazlet 52 years ago. Before retirement, Robert worked for Sperry Unisys as a Computer Specialist for many years. He was also a proud United States Navy Veteran having served our country from 1957 to 1962. Above all, Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Elizabeth (Noahi) Gurchak and his siblings, John Gurchak and Marie Kaczmarsky. Robert is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 56 years, Joan (Simun) Gurchak, his loving children, Robert S. Gurchak and his wife, Cindy, of San Antonio, Texas, and Joanne Rosse and her husband, David, of Woodbridge, his cherished grandchildren, Jon Gurchak, Ben Gurchak, and Jessica Gurchak and his dear nieces, Patricia Shovlin and Janet Farley. He is also survived by many more nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Robert will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, September 27, 2020 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday morning, September 28, 2020 from 8:15 to 9:00 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Monday morning at approximately 8:45 AM. Interment will follow at 10:30 AM at Brigadier General William C. As per the regulations imposed through the State of New Jersey, there will now be a maximum of 100 persons allowed in the funeral home at one time. In order to accommodate all of Robert’s family and friends, we ask that you please be brief while visiting in order to make room for additional guests to pay their respects; we thank you for your understanding during this time. Face protection is also required as per state regulations.
