Robert W. Friesendorf, 78, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, New Jersey. He was born on March 17, 1946, in Jersey City, New Jersey to his parents, Walter and Grace (Calkin) Friesendorf. Robert grew up in Hasbrouck Heights. He graduated from Hasbrouck Heights High School in 1964. He went onto serve his country honorably in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. Once discharged from the Army he lived in various places in North Jersey. He settled in Hazlet, New Jersey in 1978, where he remained. He enjoyed his work and retired after many years from Pictorial Offset, Carlstadt, New Jersey where he worked as a lithographer.
Robert took much pride in “giving back” to his community. He was a life member of the Hazlet First Aid Squad, Hazlet, New Jersey. During his time with First Aid, he held various positions within the squad. He was a certified EMT and an EMT Instructor throughout the county right until his passing. Outside of volunteering, he very much enjoyed his Corvette, bird watching and being a historian. Robert was an avid Mets and Giants fan; he was proud to be a Giants season ticketholder since 1974.
Robert was predeceased by his beloved parents, Walter and Grace (Calkin) Friesendorf. He is survived by his loving children, Christine Friesendorf of Howell, New Jersey, Amy Santise and her husband Michael of Easton, Pennsylvania and Cortney Yereance and her husband Jeff of Middletown, Ohio and Daniel Friesendorf and his wife Kimberly of Toms River, New Jersey, his cherished grandchildren, Cristian Friesendorf and Natalie Friesendorf, a caring brother, Walter Friesendorf of Milford, New Hampshire. He was a devoted son, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be held during the visitation. In respect of Robert’s wishes he will be privately cremated.
