Robert Burckhardt, 92, of Columbus, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2022 at Care One, Holmdel, New Jersey. Robert was born in Queens, New York, on May 12, 1930 to Charles and Matilda Burckhardt. He grew up in Smithtown, New York, moved to Hazlet, New Jersey in 1956 and to Columbus, New Jersey in 1988. He married the love of his life, Dorothy on February 21, 1954. Robert served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired after many years as an electrician from M.T. Electric, Matawan, New Jersey.
Robert was a devoted son, husband, sibling, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, New Jersey.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Charles and Matilda (Gubernator) Burckhardt. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Dorothy (Sydow) Burckhardt , his loving children, Robert Burckhardt and his wife Tonette, Ronald Burckhardt and the late Roxanne, Cynthia Donovan and her husband John and Susan Hernandez and her husband Randy, his cherished grandchildren, Ronald, Randy, Sean, David, Johnathan, Steven, Kristine, Sierra, Cheyenne, Dakota and Alexis, adored great grandchildren, Kaylee, Bailey, Roman, Kellan and David and his beloved Woofie “Lady Rose”. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 NJ Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey, 07735 on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road Wrightstown, New Jersey, 08562.
