Richard C Oehling Sr.

Richard C. Oehling Sr., 88, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 27, 2021.  Richard was born on November 9, 1932, in Newark, New Jersey, where he grew up.  On January 31, 1959, he and his beloved wife, Martha, were married and began their life together in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  A few years later in 1963, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey to raise their family. Richard was a proud United States Army Veteran; a graduate of the Newark College of Engineering, and he worked for the United States Army at Fort Monmouth as a Civil Engineer for many years. He was long-time usher at St. Benedict’s Church, president of his local National Association of Retired Federal Employees (Chapter 1533), and avid fresh water fisherman. Most of all, Richard was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Amy (Lussinger) Oehling, and his dear siblings, Walter E. Oehling and Shirley Lupia.  Richard is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 62 years, Martha M. (Brazinski) Oehling, his loving son, Richard C. Oehling Jr. of Allentown, Pennsylvania, his dear brother, Arthur Oehling and his wife, Alice, and his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan and Alison Oehling.  Richard will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
