Richard Bruno, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. Richard was born on July 11, 1936 in Jersey City, New Jersey and grew up in West New York. In his teenage years, Richard relocated to Union City and in his thirties, he settled in North Bergen, New Jersey with his beloved wife, Arlene. Before his retirement, Richard held various jobs throughout his life. He started his career with the Hudson County Department of Sanitation as a maintenance worker and street cleaner for 9 years. He then went on to work for Rinaldi’s Moving Company and also held a position as an Embroidery Technician. In addition, Richard and his wife, Arlene, were very active with volunteer work for the Salvation Army in West New York. You would often see them ringing the bells and holding the trademark red buckets trying to raise money in their community. Most of all, Richard was a loving husband, son, brother, and uncle.
He was predeceased by his adoring parents, Richard Bruno Sr. and Gladys (Maines) Messina, and his devoted wife, Arlene Bruno. Richard is survived, his loving sisters, Jaclyn Melhus and her husband, Albert, of Montaque, New York, and Suzanne Gautier and her husband, Richard, of Hazlet, New Jersey, and his dear nieces and nephews, Thomas DeBaun, Jaclyn Lifer, Gary Eisner, and Frank Melhus. Richard will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
