Phyllis E. (Smith) Meehan

Phyllis E. Meehan, 77, of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey.  She was born Phyllis Smith on July 29, 1945, in South Amboy, New Jersey.  Phyllis grew up in Keyport, New Jersey, where she remained to raise her family with her beloved husband, Merthyr.  Phyllis and Merthyr were married on July 3, 1965, and were married for 47 years before his passing in 2013.  Phyllis adored her family.  She devoted her time to raising her children and later in life, also helped raise her grandchildren who fondly knew her as “Nanny”.  Besides spending time with her family, Phyllis enjoyed gardening in her spare time.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many.  She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

She was predeceased by her parents, Kathryn (Simmons) and LeRoy Smith Sr., her beloved husband, Merthyr Meehan, and her brothers, LeRoy Smith Jr., Jeffrey Smith, and Gregory Smith.  Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Meehan of Keyport, Philip Meehan and his wife, Donna, of Hazlet, Patrick Meehan of Keyport, and Sandra Butch and her husband, Joe, of Union Beach, her dear brothers, Wayne Smith Sr. and his wife, Flossie, Kevin Smith and his wife, Sharon, and Dennis Smith and his wife, Ginny, her sisters-in-law, Carol and Jane, and her cherished grandchildren, Reese, Megan, Philip, Joseph, and Alexandra.  Phyllis also leaves behind her treasured four-legged friends, her dog, Zoe, and her cat, Mow Mow.
